I was in Ramallah with the Conservative Friends of Israel with my fellow Conservative parliamentarians where we met the Deputy Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, and were briefed on the latest public opinion trends in Palestinian society.
It was amazing to see the incredible work of Save a Child’s Heart, an NGO which has saved the lives of over 6,000 children from more than 62 countries and trains doctors and nurses from developing countries in cardiology so they can establish clinics in their communities.
After a very moving visit to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial it was an honour to rekindle the eternal flame on behalf of the UK Conservative Friends of Israel delegation. Lord Eric Pickles laid a wreath at the short service of remembrance.
During the visit to the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation I was privileged to sit at Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Shimon Peres’ desk. The Nobel Prize is in the cabinet behind me. It was an inspiring visit.
I'm delighted to have had the chance to explore the historic fishing village of Capernaum on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee during my recent trip to Israel with some of my Conservative colleagues and the Conservative Friends of Israel.
I have been in Israel this week whilst Parliament is on recess with some of my Conservative colleagues. We have received a strategic briefing from the Israel Defense Forces on the country's border with Syria, and we have also had the opportunity to explore a tunnel constructed by Hezbollah.
