In a question to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the member of Parliament for Stoke-on-Trent Central, Jo Gideon MP called on the Chancellor to extend the existing measures of support available to businesses within the hospitality sector.
Speaking to the Chancellor, Jo Gideon MP said: "I welcome the £4.6 billion announced last week in grants for the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. As my RHF will be aware, businesses in the hospitality industry have been subject to restrictions since the start of the pandemic, leaving the sector one of the hardest financially hit; and I have had the pleasure to speak with many affected business owners and workers in Stoke-on-Trent.
"As we approach the end of this financial year and with the possibility of restrictions now extending beyond, will my RHF reassure me and the businesses in my constituency that the government will extend the existing package of measures, including the current business rates relief and VAT reduction, that acts as an important lifeline for many in this sector."
